Administrative Information: TASC began in 1976 with an initial membership of 25 swimmers. Today, our club averages about 90 swimmers on the monthly roll. Our club is administered by a parent-run Executive Board, with our day-to-day operations managed by the team's Head Coach. Our swimmers range from beginning novice swimmers, to swimmers who have qualified and participated in national level meets such as Juniors and Nationals. Our motto, "A Tradition of Champions" comes from our long tradition of swimmers who have excelled at almost every level of swimming. Our team, although small in number, always has outstanding performances at every major championship meet.
Producing champions is a great accomplishment, and it reflects the results of the hard work our swimmers put in each day and the efforts of our outstanding coaching staff. However, our primary goal as an organization is to develop and enhance a swimmer's physical fitness, swimming skills, motivation, discipline and self-esteem through carefully supervised activities. Our philosophy is to promote competing...not necessarily winning. While doing well in competitive swimming clearly identifies individual achievement and provides reward, ALL swimmers are "winners" if they improve their skills, attitude and self-esteem.
USA/Texas Swimming: Our club is a member of USA Swimming, the National Governing Body of competive swimming, and of South Texas Swimming, Inc., the governing body for competition in our area. Our area of competition extends from Temple in the north, all the way to the border with Mexico. Most of our competitions take place in the major cities, such as Austin and San Antonio. In addition, we hold many meets here at the Hardin Swim Center. At the end of each season, the five Texas LSCs also get together to hold a State Championship, one of the largest and fastest age-group meets in the nation.
Throughout the state, there are meets that allow swimmers of all ability levels to compete, have fun, meet new friends and travel. The Temple Area Swim Club strives to offer opportunities for each and every swimmer to achieve their very best.
